Capitora lexicon

The Capitora vocabulary for capital-flow intelligence.

Capitora uses a small, deliberate set of branded terms to describe distinct, measurable phenomena. Each term is defined in primary-source data, scoped narrowly, and used consistently across dashboards, briefs, alerts, and exports. The lexicon is published in full so every reader can audit our language.

01 · Framework

Why Capitora maintains a fixed vocabulary.

Institutional research collapses without consistent language. The Capitora lexicon exists so that a Signal Density of 78 in a state brief means the same thing as a Signal Density of 78 in a Hidden Winners dossier or a PDF export.

The terms below are not marketing. They are the units in which Capitora measures capital flow, scores evidence, and classifies severity. Every term resolves to a documented calculation in the methodology and a documented source in the data catalogue.

Trademark notation

Branded terms are marked with ™ on first prominent use in a surface (dashboard card, brief masthead, export cover). Subsequent uses in the same surface drop the glyph for readability.

Capital Velocity™

CV

Rate at which committed federal and corporate capital is moving through obligation, qualification, and deployment.

Composite of obligation cadence (USAspending), corporate capex commitment (8-K / FERC / IRP), and qualification velocity (state permits). Reported as an index, not a price expectation.

Supersedes: capital movement · money flow

GeoMomentum™

GM

State-level acceleration in federal obligations, permitting throughput, and qualified contractor activity.

0–100 index. ≥ 75 = accelerating corridor; 40–74 = active; < 40 = monitoring. Recomputed daily from primary-source feeds.

Supersedes: state acceleration · state heat

Infrastructure Pulse™

IP

Measured velocity of physical buildout — power, grid, semiconductor fab, and data-center energization.

Tracks permit-to-energization lag, EPC vendor qualification, and utility IRP commitments. Used to estimate when capex translates to recognized revenue.

Supersedes: infrastructure momentum · buildout momentum

Signal Density™

SD

Count, recency, and independence of primary-source evidence supporting a single signal or thesis.

0–100 score. Distinct from price conviction — measures evidence breadth, not directionality.

Supersedes: signal intensity · evidence score

Institutional Flow Drift™

IFD

Quarter-over-quarter change in institutional positioning relative to peer baskets.

Derived from 13F deltas, Form 4 insider activity, and ETF flow data. Reported as confirmatory evidence, not a leading indicator.

Supersedes: institutional flow · 13F drift

Federal Momentum Index™

FMI

Composite read of obligation cadence, award velocity, and policy signal across federal agencies.

Weights obligations (50%), awards (30%), and policy / RFP issuance (20%). Refreshed daily.

Supersedes: federal momentum · agency heat

Opportunity Density™

OD

Concentration of independent, corroborating signals within a geography, sector, or corridor.

High Opportunity Density indicates multiple unrelated flows converging on the same theme — the structural condition under which Hidden Winners are surfaced.

Supersedes: opportunity clustering · hot zone

Capital Rotation Index™

CRI

Directional read of capital migrating between sectors and state corridors.

Composite of GeoMomentum, Federal Momentum, and Institutional Flow Drift. Positive values denote net inbound capital; negative values denote net outbound.

Supersedes: sector acceleration · sector rotation

Infrastructure Exposure™

IE

Degree to which a public company's revenue is tied to federally- or utility-driven infrastructure buildout.

Computed from qualification filings, EPC vendor lists, supplier disclosures, and permit graph adjacency.

Supersedes: infrastructure dependency · supplier dependency

Hidden Winners™

HW

Lesser-covered public companies, suppliers, and Tier-2 contractors materially exposed to active capital flows.

Surfaced via cross-flow correlation, supplier-graph adjacency, and institutional-drift confirmation. Not a buy list.

Supersedes: secondary beneficiaries · second-order picks

Evidence Density™

ED

Auditable measure of how many independent primary sources corroborate a signal.

Capitora's confidence scoring. 0–100. Distinct from Signal Density only in scope — Evidence Density is per-signal, Signal Density rolls up to a thesis.

Supersedes: intelligence confidence · confidence score

Coverage Asymmetry™

CA

Gap between observable backlog / qualification signal and visible sell-side coverage.

Higher values indicate stronger informational asymmetry — material signal that has not yet been priced or covered.

Supersedes: informational asymmetry · analyst gap
03 · Usage

How Capitora uses these terms.

The lexicon is governed. Terms are added through methodology review and retired through public changelog.

  • Branded terms describe measurements, never recommendations.
  • No term implies a price target, a return forecast, or an execution signal.
  • Synonyms used historically (e.g. "signal intensity", "state heat") are mapped to a canonical Capitora term in this glossary.
  • Definitions are versioned alongside the methodology. Material changes appear in the methodology changelog.
